A place and time that is just for you
My name is Melissa Humphries and I am a fully qualified counsellor based in Barnstaple, North Devon. Please read on to find out more information.
I am Melissa, a fully qualified and insured Integrative Counsellor, and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked within the Mental Health Sector for over 13 years, 7 of these in the NHS.
I provide a confidential, non-judgmental and caring space supporting you to explore, express and develop your experiences and understand your emotions in a safe and private environment.
These sessions can take place via online video calls, telephone or face-to-face in the centre of Barnstaple.
Talking things through with a friend can be a source of both comfort and relief, however a friend who knows you and your family might just feel too close to talk to. Being able to talk to a trained professional in a confidential and non-judgmental space can feel very safe and provide you with the opportunity to begin to talk about whatever may be troubling you.

At Mountford Counselling & Psychotherapy, we recognise the profound
impact of personal historical trauma on an individual's life journey. Personal
historical trauma refers to significant past events or experiences in one's
life that continue to influence their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. These
events could include childhood abuse, neglect, loss of a loved one, or any
other deeply distressing experiences. Such trauma can leave lasting wounds,
affecting one's sense of self-worth, relationships, and overall well-being.
We provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space for
individuals to explore and process these painful experiences. Through
evidence-based therapeutic techniques and a client-centered approach, We work
collaboratively with clients to unpack the layers of their personal
history, identify coping mechanisms, and facilitate healing and growth. Our
goal is to empower individuals to integrate their past experiences into their
present lives in a way that promotes resilience, self-compassion, and a sense
of empowerment.
Each appointment is 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed and are £50 per face-to-face sessions or £45 for telephone and online sessions.
These sessions can take place via online video calls, telephone or face-to-face in the centre of Barnstaple.
I offer a free, initial consultation to give you the opportunity to see if counselling is right for you with no obligation to continue. The initial consultation will be 30 minutes, and can take place via telephone or online.
